I registered my magicjack plus then connected it to my router, no pc. Worked fine for a day then it stopped working, got Error #3 check internet connection. Internet was fine. I unplugged the Magicjack from the power and then plugged it back in and it works again.
Seems like my router needs to be setup for it. What ports need to be opened and after opening them, how do you keep the Magicjack from changing IP addresses?
I have a Linksys Wrt54gs router.
Also is there a way to turn up the volume on the Magicjack plus when not using a pc? Volume on the phones seem low even when phones are turned all the way up.
Thank you

log in to your my.magicjack.com account and set your magicjack plus's static ip address it's found under My Subsctitions tab, BTW magicjack uses ports 5060 and 5070 you may also enable DMZ in your router to prevent issues

Ok. I did all that with the Port Forwarding. It worked for awhile but then got the error 23, check internet connection a few days later. Internet is fine. I think my router doesn't reassign a new IP address all the time to the magicjack for some reason.
You mentioned about setting the static IP on the MJ website. What settings do I enter there? I can copy most from my computers network details but what about the Broadcast IP? What is the Broadcast IP and where do I find it?
Thanks

Configuring Magicjack Plus to Work with Linksys WRT54GS
I got this to work on my Linksys WRT54GS, firmware v1.52.8. Pick an IP address that is outside the range DHCP addresses you are using for other network devices, but still within the available IP space of the router. Go to Applications & Gaming tab in your router setup, then Port Range Forward. Enable an entry that identifies the application (I used mjack) the start (5060) and end (5070) ports, and the IP address you picked. Save settings.
In your my magicJack account, Static Network Configuration, uncheck the Use DHCP box, then enter the IP address you used above, and the remaining IP numbers from your ISP. You don't need to enter the Broadcast IP. Save. That should do it. I didn't enable my DMZ.

I don't understand what to pick for an IP address that is outside the range DHCP addresses you are using for other network devices, but still within the available IP space of the router. Can you explain this in more detail, please.SierraDeuce wrote:I got this to work on my Linksys WRT54GS, firmware v1.52.8. Sure. In the Setup, Basic Setup page for your router, down to Network Address Server Settings (DHCP) portion of the page, you'll need to set your Starting IP Address. The number should be greater than the local IP address of the router. There's two ways you can go. If your router ends in .1, the last number of your starting IP address could be .3, so .2 is reserved for your MagicJack. The other way you can go is set the end of your starting IP address as .2, then set the Maximum Number of DHCP Users to some reasonable number you think you'll use (I picked 20), then pick a number outside of that range for your MagicJack. This is way I set mine up, but the first way should work, and is perhaps a little simpler. It depends where (and how much) you want to reserve for DHCP. The rest can be assigned as Static. I'm assuming the maximum addressable for DHCP (253) is also the limit on the router.
From your router's built in Setup Help:
The Maximum Number of DHCP Users
Enter the maximum number of PCs that you want the DHCP server to assign IP addresses to. The absolute maximum is 253--possible if 192.168.1.2 is your starting IP address.

magicjack plus router configuration
Restart the firewall
winxp home, Teracom adsl wifi router...
I tried forwarding ports, dmz etc for HOURS!, crossing my fingers and hoping to hear the sweet sweet sound of the dialtone but nothing worked!, the router literally didn't even blink... so I finally decided to remove all these settings in the magicjack account and on my router and start fresh...
I just disabled my computers firewall and it worked! and I re-enabled it and it still works, even when I turned everything off and restarted, it still works...
so try that...
