The "new" 2014 MJ+ as VOIP device is essentially the same as the "old" MJ+. The operational issues that you describe have already been addressed on this website countless times... try searching the site - particularly the "MagicJack Plus Support" section - for the solution. From the way you've described them, it sounds like the LED lights on your device are working as they should, indicating that the device itself is probably working properly.

So to put it in a nutshell, it *sounds* like your issue is related to your router and its internal settings, and each router make/model is a little different in that regard.

But if you're disabled, need CONSISTENTLY reliable telephone service and are looking to save money through VOIP, I recommend going with OOMA. You really should not have bought the additional year of service until you tried MJ out during the included 6 months to see if you really like it - that's why they include 6 months in the purchase price. If you're still within 30 days of the date you ordered it I'd consider trying to return it for a refund and going with an outfit that will provide you with better customer service and technical support. OOMA costs more up-front, and a little more on a monthly basis, but for someone such as yourself I think you might be better off.
