How to change registered name and address?

Post by bellaperlui »

I bought a secondhand magicjack. I would like to change the user profile (name, address, email). Please help me with it.

Go to http://my.magicjack.com/ (which you can also access from the www.magicjack.com home page by clicking Customer Care/Live Agent then on the next screen Member Features.

Next you'll need the previous owner's login info including password. Once logged in you can change the contact info associated with the account.

Hopefully you can get the login info, or ask the seller to change the info for you (including giving you a new log in name and password).

I currently have a MagicJack and bought another from a friend because I liked the phone number assigned to his MagicJack. When I log on the account via my.magicjack.com is does not give an option to change the owner's name. I contacted customer support and was told that there is no way to change the registered owner's name on the account. Does anyone have a work around for this problem? I am also thinking forward to the day when number porting actually becomes available, yeah I know they have been promising it forever, but I will never be able to port the number not being the registered owner. Has anyone figured how to change the registered owner's name on the account?

I doubt Dan has much interest in allowing registered user changes, he would probably rather you just buy one yourself. Sorry. If you are friends with the guy who regged it then it shouldn't be much of a problem for you. MJ doesn't display caller ID names anyway, just numbers.

It's also a violation of MagicJack's Terms of Service:

Well, there is no way to change the name.

-To change the email, add a new email address and delete the old one (this will also prompt you for a new password).

-To change the address, add a new address (USA only) and delete the old one (if possible)

-You cannot port your existing number, but you may change your existing magicjack phone number and receive a new one.
Your old phone number will be forwarded for 30 days, and you cannot opt out of this.

BE AWARE - You can only change your number to a different prefix that you don't already have.
Which means if your phone number is 403-272 you must change to either a different area code or prefix.
i.e - that would be either 403-XXX OR XXX-XXX...
This is due to magicjack's assumption that the only reason to change your phone number is to obtain the new area codes that become available.
If you absolutely need the same prefix either contact magicjack customer support or change your number twice
