Has anyone yet had any experience attempting to use MagicJack's service with FreedomPop?
FreedomPop is a relatively new 3g-4g-LTE wireless Internet service provider, currently operating on Clearwire's Wi-Max network only in the U.S.'s most major metropolitan markets but by the end of this year will expand nationwide over Sprint's "4g" LTE network (about 300 megabits/second download, 75 upload - roughly equivalent to most land-based ISPs' entry-level broadband service and more than enough to handle VOIP). 0.5 GB or 1.0 GB/month is free (depending upon which type of FreedomPop access point device you use on the service); additional data is available for about $10/GB/month. They will also be adding their own VOIP and text messaging service via a cooperative agreement with TextPlus.
They have been "beta testing" with small snap-on/plug-in (USB) access point devices, including a snap-on iPod Touch "sleeve," but will soon also be offering such a sleeve for iPhones and Android phones as well as a home/office integrated "Wi-Max" modem/wireless router.
Although the company just started offering service in the above-mentioned limited markets over the past year or so, I was wondering if anybody anywhere has had the opportunity to try MJ VOIP over it, say with the FreedomPop iPod sleeve and the MJ i/OS app?
FreedomPop is NOT some fly-by-night operation. It is already offering service as stated above, its agreements for nationwide coverage expansion with Sprint and TextPlus are already in place, its iPod sleeves are already available, its already-manufactured iPhone sleeves have already been manufactured and are awaiting FCC approval for commercial sale, its basic Android sleeve design is done, its iOS and Android apps ready, and its home/office modem-router is being manufactured and readied for sale right now. They were at the most recently concluded CES in Las Vegas, and are already developing plans to serve Europe as well as the U.S.
Utilizing its free Wi-Max data service may be the best solution yet to land-based Internet service problems, especially for VOIP applications. Given the relatively low data usage of VOIP (and MJ in particular), the free 1 GB /month may very well be enough for many VOIP/MJ users.
So imagine having a free ISP dedicated to your VOIP/MJ, while letting all of the other people in your home or office share that paid-for LAN bandwidth - no more VOIP stuttering/dropouts while someone else is streaming a video or playing an online game! And no more worrying about when your local land-based ISP's local node (or equivalent) is going to start acting up (this seems to be an annual problem with my Comcast service and it takes FOREVER - often a full month - for them to identify the source of the problem and fix it)!
If I understand it correctly, when FreedomPop starts offering TextPlus's VOIP and text messaging service, it will work roughly like this: You'll get a phone number assigned to your account; there may be offered a VERY basic, limited VOIP and SMS service that will be free, more full-featured VOIP will cost per month based on minutes (making it more expensive than MJ) and the same will apply to text messaging (monthly cost based on number of messages purchased). But if MJ works with the expanded service on the Sprint LTE network, you could conceivably have MJ phone service on a dedicated and FREE wireless data service, with the only costs involved being MJ's cheap annual fees and the cost of the FreedomPop hardware (a one-time cost of about $100).

I am considering getting the freedompop phone when it comes out.Freedompop claimed it was coming out by the end of the summer(9/21?)Or maybe an amazon kindle phone if they were to release one this year.)What I don't understand is why isn't magicjack marketing a mobile phone like this that uses the magicjack app.It seems all they need to do this is have the ability to resell 4G internet.Considering the many small companies like Freedompop that are already reselling Sprint service,i don't see why it would be so difficult for magicjack to do this. The CEO did claim in April that magicjack would be reselling a 4G data card by the end of this year.It may or may not be true.
If magicjack does not want to market a mobile phone themselves, why don't they partner with another company to market a low cost mobile phone that uses the magicjack app exclusively?Given magicjack's ability to make a nice profit margin on selling phone service for such a low price, and even offering free calls with the app,I am surprised that magicjack isn't already doing one or both of these things.Maybe they have a partnership lined up already and that is why they are stalling on this?Who knows?Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

Does anybody have any experience with the LTE systems of tmobile or A1 in Virginia?
It might be decent to get a LTE information stick for our laptops while we hold up for UPC to get introduced in our adept.
From my examination, these are the main two bearers that have a LTE arrange in US.
