Hi All,

I've been setting up a t5700 for a dedicated magic jack box. I tried a new operating sytem flash and tried to get MJ to work with 256. I did some reading and discovered I needed more storage. I ran accross a 1 Gb hardisk to upgrade the old 256 flash memory, but had to order a cable from ebay. While waiting, I tried getting the 256/256 set up to run MJ. I even tried a RAM upgrade to 512, but never completly got it to work right, but I had verified I had a working system with a new OS flash. After my cable came in, I hooked everything up, and the OS seemed to load ok. At the end of the installation process though, I got an error message:

" A problem is preventing Windows from accuratley checking the liscense for this computer. Error Code: 0x80070002. "

The only thing I could find was a Microsoft Support write-up about the error occuring when either the security provider had been changed, or the drive letter had changed. The drive letter change seems like the most likely of the two.

I started up in the safe mode comand line version and everything was off of the C drive. I think the drive letter used with the old ide flash memory module was drive Z (maybe that was the RAM disk?).

The Microsoft solution is to change the drive letter in the registry, but I wanted to check here before I tried anything.

Thanks,

Embarassed
The original working OS on the 256 ide flash module is on drive C, the RAM disk is drive Z.

For kicks I also verified that I do have a good ethernet connection.

I don't have any good or bad ideas now so I think I will start over again.

I reloaded Xpe, the 29705 version, and am still getting the same error. Confused

The hard disk I am trying to use is an IBM DSOA21080 1GB 2.5 inch IDE Notebook Hard Drive.

I looked at one of the registry entries that Microsoft posted could be the problem (The drive letter has been changed). I compared my good install to my bad. The good had six entries, while the bad had only two. These were under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM - MountedDevices.

This problem is screwy, and with my abilitiy, hard to diagnose. I'm tired now and will try again tomorrow.
