Or has he just sold me a thin client and left me high and dry?

He has demonstrated he is a very stand up guy. Maybe he is traveling.

I've been trying to reach him for over a month myself, and I honestly believe that something must have happened, I just hope it isn't anything too serious. Having said that, I would like to believe that this community can come together and we can help each other out to keep our "Alpman" equipment up and running. If you're having technical problems, post your problem and we'll see if we can help.

His most recent post in the Alpman TC's for Sale thread was dated March 19, so he has been off-line for a month. He did not post that he was leaving town for an extended period, but he does travel often. I ordered a Neoware TC from him a couple months back when he was selling those. It was a steal of a deal and has worked like a charm. It was preconfigured so that I didn't have to do anything but plug in the MJ. I hope Alpman turns up again soon.

I'm sure he's out there. Hope he is okay. I would say he would never leave anyone high and dry judging by all the great reviews and very happy people in the forum.

Post the issue and maybe we can help you out in the meantime. If Alpman is out of commission, it's likely temporary.

He is still around, he is selling on ebay, I got a message from him the other day about one of his devices that fixes caller ID. I dont know why he wont respond on here any longer.

its a hp t5000....
its all setup and ready....

it worked at first....

but after a day, it started to have problems....

since then, it rarely has a dial tone. I have to reboot the machine to get a dial tone....

he had said that he set it to reboot automatically everyday at 4 am or so....

how can I check if that's setup?

ok...he had it set to restart once every week (on sunday at 4am)

I changed it to restart once everyday....
we'll see if this helps....

he also had it set to run defraggler once every week....I changed it to run once every bi-monthly....

I don't use this Alpman TC for anything else besides MJ...so I see no need to defrag it all the time...

it says its a t5000...but it has a serial sticker that says t5520....
plus he has a mini hard drive or something in there....its at 5.7 GB...or something....

Yes that sounds about right.... Aplman configuration. He likely has an image that works well for the harddrive set up and MagicJack hence the differnce in what sticker says.

I suspect Alpman got out of the thin client market as there are so many alternatives now, netTALK's TK6000 at $99.00 probably costs less upfront than a TC and a MJ, and there is no yearly fee for it. I plan on retiring my MJ when it expires.
