Blocked Numbers How to file a Complaint Aginst MJ With FCC

Post by TheImpCo »

If you continue to think the way you always thought, you will continue to get what you always got.

"Thank you for contacting Citrix Online Global Customer Support.

Some customers attempting to reach GoToMeeting conference numbers using the "Magic Jack" service are unable to connect or are redirected to the "Magic Jack" conferencing service. Customers have reported being redirected to the Magic Jack conferencing service automatically when attempting to dial a GoToMeeting conference bridge from a "Magic Jack" phone line. Magic Jack is in violation of FCC regulations and the action is illegal.

If you would like to file a complaint about Magic Jack, please do so at the FCC website located here:

http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Once on the page, here are instructions:

Choose the: "INTERNET SERVICE AND VOIP" option
click "NEXT"
Choose the: "BILLING, SERVICE, AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER PORTABILITY ISSUES" option
click "NEXT"
Choose the: "ONLINE FORM" option
Fill out the top section "CONSUMER INFORMATION"
Fill out 1, 2 and 5 and click "SUBMIT"

Unfortunately, Citrix Online cannot prevent Magic Jack from redirecting these phone calls that you are attempting to make. You should be able to complete your calls to the GoToMeeting conference numbers using another provider. Thank you for your patience with this issue.

magicJack should just make any number that charges an exorbitant termination fee or any conference line numbers as toll or long distance call. They could easily place a disclaimer on any advertisements, marketing materials and product packaging stating something like the following: While magicJack does offer its customers free calls to most numbers in the US and Canada, we do block certain numbers to ensure that we can offer the service as inexpensive as possible. To access a lost of blocked goto our website at www.magicjack.com/blockednumbers for the most recent list of blocked numbers.

This type of strategy will allow magicJack to more than likely adhere to the letter of law and magicJack customers will not feel deceived because a disclaimer was including on all advertisements, marketing materials and product packaging.

An 800 number should not be charging any termination fee. Isn't the whole point of an 800 number that the called party pays for the call?
