Working from Home for JetBlue

I am new to the forum,, and would appreciate any help with this little problem, I am training to work from home with JetBlue, they( JEtBlue) require me to have a phone that you can dial to their Salt Lake City center , WITHOUT an area code.

I live out of the Salt Lake area, and I tried to dial my MJ from Salt Lake without and area code, ( no surprize), it did not work,,

The requirement ( for me to call in to the center)is to dial a 9, and then the Salt lake No#,,,,,,,,.

Is this possible to do with the MJ???? , They tell me that VONTAGE will work, and it is a voip system, so I dont know why this would not work with a MJ,

So far as i know dailing the area code is a must with magic-jack. In my local area its Required, We have more than one prefix on area codes for same local areas busy busy busy town we r and more towns cities will follow as demands rise.

Look thru the FAQS on there site. I seem to remember some info there.

Are you trying to establish a voice call or a data call? What is doing the dialing (you, your modem, some other device)? Why would you be dialing an initial 9 from home? (Dialing 9 for an outside line is common on office phone systems, but would be very unusual for a home system.) Are you initiating the call from your home and calling the center, or is the center calling your home, or both?

I called and talked to to JETBLUE IT and this is how it works,, the system, thru my computer( at home) hits the server at JETBLUE thru IP address , Using a program called AVAYA, ( it think that is how it is spelled),

then the screen askes you to put in a "9" and then "YOUR" 7 digit phone no#..... with out the area code... so I am guessing that the sever will not expect anything larger than the 7 digits no# .

If their server and your MJ number are both 801 area, I'm surprised it's not working; please post your exchange, e.g. 801-822 and theirs.

If they are in 801 and you have a 435, you should change your MJ number to an 801. If that would no longer be local for others calling you, you could get a second MJ, or a number from another service.

That is what I thought,,, here is my no# 801-738-14** and the no# that I am calling is 801-993-80** (there are actual no#s where the ** are , just did not want to post the full no# )....

Now this is the wierd part, my mom lives about 10 miles west of the area I am trying to call,, and she calls me WITHOUT dialing the 801,,, her no# is 801-352-17**, but I have to dial her no# with the 801, or the little voice comes on and tells me I have to dial the area code, so it must be something to do with the prefix..

I have also tried dial her with the ** after the last four no#s ,, I still get the little man telling me I have to dial the area code...

When you call *from* your MJ number to anywhere, you always have to dial 10 or 11 digits; that's just their rule. However, you said that the JetBlue server will be calling *to* your MJ number, so the 7 digit dialing should work ok.

If not, you can always do the GrandCentral thing... I know that calling our local GC number works fine using only 7 digits...
