Unable to call 907 area code
I have had a magicJack for two years. I ordered a second first of July. Since July 17th I have been unable to make a call to 907 area code. I have spent hours on the chat line with tech support. I called my provider. No one seems to know where the problem stems. Anyone having the same problem?

The post from nyphonejacks explains the reason why certain area codes / exchanges are not working: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/all- ... t9322.html
MJ/Ymax is not paying interconnect fees, or termination fees to the company handling the call routing, so those companies have refused to terminate MJ calls to there subscribers, as it appears that people can call some local number (on certain carriers) but not others

I can call 907 but I do have a slight delay when talking, its tolerable though. The problem is the USA lower 48 transfers to Canada, Canada transfers to Alaska, there in lies the breakdown. I have found that NOT saving the Alaska phone number in your contacts and dialing the number manually each time you call gives the best results. I am using an HP Thin Client T5710, don't know it that matters.

Problem with 907 Area Code
As several others have reported, I cannot now call 907 (Alaska) with my MJ. Worked fine before about July 15th. Now I only get three quick beeps and then silence - can't even leave a message. Sad thing is my son and family just moved to Anchorage, but I can't call him. He can call me, however, at my different Area code. I have no problem with other codes. I've been an MJ user for 2 years.
Re: Unable to call 907 area code
Ok so if this is the unofficial forum maybe they will let me give you this work-around. I also cannot call Alaska and it is a magic jack problem. I gather there are also other area codes that fit this problem.
Get a Google mail account and then join their free voice call program. You pick a number and they let you transfer incoming and outgoing calls to your normal telephone (your magic jack number). It is kind of like setting up your magic jack for the first time, not really difficult.
Add the contact number you wish to call and it will make the call right through your existing magic jack phone. It will also forward any call to your mj number.
I suggest that you use it only to call and ask the person to call you back on your mj number because the Google service is crap. If your contact does not have free long distance then I guess it still is at least one option. I found the voice quality to be a bit broken. Maybe it is better using the program straight through with a mike instead of feeding it through mj.

I have a similar problem with all calls I make from other states to (907) Alaska. I get three fast beeps...then nothing. Unfortunately, half of my calls are to Alaska.DFrazier57 wrote:I have had a magicJack for two years. I ordered a second first of July. The firm advertises free calls in the US. This is plainly fraudulent, as (907) is the area code of an entire state.

Complain to the FCC and they in turn send a letter to MJ who in turn offers to refund your MagicJack. That's it. No other recourse at this time other than the Google workaround.jrathjen wrote: The firm advertises free calls in the US. This is plainly fraudulent, as (907) is the area code of an entire state.
