Today "*" call to G5 doesn't work any more on my PAP2T, complete silence. GVOut works fine.

Unless you've changed your dialplan, you need to use a leading '#' to specify calls are to be routed through Gizmo5 instead of Google Voice. A leading '*' is used to specify calls are to be routed through SipBroker (*Sip-Code + number):

I made a GVOut wrapper, xGVOut, that fixed the bug that only 5060 can be used:

You're absolutely correct - #, and it's works.
I've redialed, and it was * in phone's memory bc I was playing with the dialplan last night. Sorry for the wrong report.

How do I run this? Do I just launch the xGVOut instead of GVOut? When I do this, nothing happens... I see the xGVOut process is running?

Thanks.

Nothing special, just run xGVOut.exe. If you were already using GVOut and want to change port #, you may start GVOut first to make the change and save.

Just FYI: another great way to dial Google Voice:

http://www.mysipswitch.com/forum/viewto ... sc&start=0

Yeah, no computer required! No Asterisk!

I love MySipSwitch, it beats SAP1001 and all PBX. You can use the online service or run it on your own. I've been running it on my laptop for 2 years now and love every minute of it. It uses port 5060; that's why I had to make xGVOut to use port 5061.

I love this solution, Aaron is awesome. No need to have a computer running now and the lines can be configured however you want using sipsorcery.

Yes. Can someone provide the entire dialplan on sipsorcery for us newbies using GV.

I am new to this, so sorry for all the questions... I guess the sipsorcery is another method of incoming/outgoing calls using GV. Rather than this GVOut method Is that correct?

Thanks a lot.

I believe you're the first to report having any problems related to this bug when using port 5060. I and many others have no problem using X-Lite with GVOut on port 5060. Maybe it's time to double-check the configuration of both X-Lite and GVOut.
No, I too have never been successful with GVout. After 18 pages of this thread, with Jay235, I too have to keep "force registering" X-lite as well as always start/stop the GVout proxy for every call I dial out. The only difference is I gave up on Sipgate and am using Gizmo5.

...and after 18 pages of this thread, I suffer the same experience with my ATA - a non Linksys model which requires me to register the ATA by entering the G5 domain, then clear it out, then G5/GVout will work for 1, maybe 2 calls before I have to reset the ATA, enter the G5 domain again, and repeat the process - obviously too much 'manual housekeeping' to maintain a decent quality phone line for the family. Again, ALL of this on port 5060.

And to make matters worse, the inevitable has happened to me and the MJMD5 proxy no longer works - I think they finally changed my password to the new encrypted one that no one has busted yet so GVout would be a great alternative to my dilemma. There's hope, though, if it could work via the Mysipswitch/Sipsorcery route. I've asked AZ1324 about this but he has yet to respond. Hell, I'd be happy if I could run my own sipswitch server locally with the PC on all the time and feed GVout to it to get it to work with the ATA, all automated of course.

Try xGVOut, I'm using it with local SipSwitch, no problem at all. Before it could make only one call or two.

I have the Accton SIP phone and when I try to set it up I get an error - "Unauthorized" when trying to connect to my laptop computer with the program GVOut on it. What could be the issue?

This dial plan is working for me on sipsorcery

Code: Select all

#Ruby
# Dial Plan Generated by Rubyzard v0.1
# If you need help, please post in our forum
# http://www.mysipswitch.com

# SIP tracing : true or false
sys.Trace = false

sys.Log("call from #{req.Header.From.FromURI.ToString()} to #{req.URI.User}.")

if sys.In
 # Do your INCOMING call processing customisations here.

else
  # Do your OUTGOING call processing customisations here.
numbertocall = req.URI.User.to_str
sys.GoogleVoiceCall("[email protected]", "password", "17471999999", "#{numbertocall}")
end
Of course replace the following with your own settings
"[email protected]" - Replace with your Google Voice sign in email
"password" - Replace with your Google Voice web password
"17471999999" - Replace with your Gizmo5 phone number

It's actually very simple to get GVOut working so that you can make outgoing and receive incoming calls with your Google Voice account:

1. Configure your SIP client (ATA, hardphone, or softphone) to work with Gizmo5. Make sure you can place calls to and receive calls from other Gizmo5 users. At this point, you should also be able to make free calls to PSTN numbers, albeit with a 3-minute limit (this assumes you have no CallOut credit with Gizmo5 - if you have CallOut credit, you will be charged for every minute on PSTN calls).

2. Configure your Google Voice account to forward incoming calls to your Gizmo5 number. Run GVOut on your PC and configure it with your Google Voice account information.

3. Change the Outbound Proxy in your SIP client from blank to the IP Address of the PC where GVOut is running. At this point you should be able to place and receive calls via your Google Voice account. When you place a call, you will get an immediate busy signal. Hang up and Google Voice will call you back and connect you to the requested number.

GVOut can also be made to work with SipGate, an IPKall number, etc., but it's easiest to get it working with a free Gizmo5 account first.

My Sipsorcery Dial Plan:

Code: Select all

#Ruby # OUT
#******************************************************#
#* GOOGLE VOICE @ SIPSORCERY *#
#******************************************************#
sys.Trace = false
sys.Log("call from #{req.Header.From.FromURI.ToString()} to #{req.URI.User}.")
if sys.In
 else
 sys.GoogleVoiceCall("Gmail_User_Namer", "Gmail_Password", "1747XXXXXXX", req.URI.User.to_str)
end
If you have GV reg with Gmail you dont need to put @gmail extension.

I tried all 3 of the OUTBOUND dial strings below and only the 3rd one works. Can someone point out what's wrong with the first two strings? Thanks.

#sys.GoogleVoiceCall("[email protected]", "mypassword", "1747xxxxxxx", "#{numbertocall}")

sys.GoogleVoiceCall("[email protected]", "mypassword", "1747xxxxxxx", req.URI.User.to_str)

#sys.Dial("Gizmo5") #works

EDIT: There is some confusion regarding the username and password used in the GoogleVoiceCall() method. Are they supposed to be from G5, or from GV? Mine are not the same for the two. I don't understand why the subroutine would use the GV username and password but use the G5 SIP number.

It appears about 50% of the Sipsorcery users are having success with Google Voice and the other 50% are not. If I understand these dialplans correctly, your third one is calling out using Gizmo5 and not Google Voice.

You'll most likely get better answers posting in this thread:

If you can place 3-minute free PSTN calls though Gizmo5 at the moment, it should be easy to make them go via Google Voice instead:

Change the Outbound Proxy in your SIP client from blank to the IP Address of the PC where GVOut is running. At this point you should be able to place and receive calls via your Google Voice account. When you place a call, you will get an immediate busy signal. Hang up and Google Voice will call you back and connect you to the requested number.

So interestingly enough, I find that the VoIP settings for the Accton have to be rather perfect, or else...well..the phone makes them the way it wants.

The SIP Proxy address is also the SIP Registar Address, and unfortunately, the Outbound proxy address. If I change the Outbound Proxy address, I find that it automatically goes back to what it was before it...what is going on anyways!?!?!? :(

Hey everyone. Sorry I got busy with some other things and disappeared. Glad to see that some alternatives have appeared in the meantime.

As for the alternate port issue, I haven't been able to connect to the sipphone server on an alternate port, with or without GVOut so my testing to figure out what is crashing the connection on the alternate ports didn't get very far. I did add in an ACK to the CANCEL for those ATAs that require it. Will send to some testers later.

Hopefully more progress soon when I get a chance.

Success! I am able to get things working with the GV/G5/SS setup. 'Tis a shame I was having lots of problems with GVOut but at least I have free dialout again without mj crap! I had to get a new 747 number from G5 and now it works great! No more PC on (for now) and Aaron over at SS has made it so the GV callback ring is unnecessary with G5.

Hopefully this will stay solid for awhile!

I don't think the new 747 number was necessary. Aaron found a bug in his sys.GoogleVoiceCall function that was causing about 50% of the people to have problems. It wasn't a Gizmo5 problem.

Outbound Proxy

Post by aaronkephart »

You have to change all 3 settings, but mainly the SIP Proxy(The first setting) and it automatically changes all the other ones.

You have to have GVOut configured to proxy01.sipphone.com, or 198.65.166.131.

Start the GVout program and then let your sip phone do its magic. Try a call, it immediately hangs up, it calls you back, then you can talk for hours and hours! It took me forever and a day to figure it out ugh.

I try to get onto it by going to sipsorcery.com, however, I find that it just has an install link for microsoft silverlight??
Nevermind...now my quest really begins. I'm getting silverlight now and im definitely going to try this out. No Computer with my SIP phone looks a lot better than GVout, but wow...it looks pretty challenging! But I'm totally up for it.

I finally got around to installing and configuring GVOut and it works great. Many thanks to az1324 for writing this useful tool and also to the forum contributors, especially JFMuggs and jose.miami for the very informative dial plan jousting.

Just for reference, this is the dial plan I settled on:

Code: Select all

( <411:18004664411>S0 | 1800[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | 1888[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | 1877[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | 1866[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | <:1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100> | <:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100>S0 | 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100>S0 | <#:1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx | <#:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | <#:>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 )
(Replace aaa with local area code and adjust IP address for GVOut host PC.)

I'm running GVOut (and magicJack) on a very old PIII laptop and initially GVOut wouldn't start. I suspected it was due to .NET not being installed and it turns out that was the problem. I dropped a new hard drive in the PIII (the old drive was 4200rpm and with only 256MB ram the laptop was really dragging its ass), installed .NET and that did the trick.

EDIT: I no longer use the above dial plan. The dial plan I currently use dials all calls (including toll free calls) with Google Callback, unless explicitly requesting to initiate the call through Gizmo5. The reason is calls initiated through Google Voice have significantly better quality than calls initiated through Gizmo5.

Current dial plan:

Code: Select all

( <411:18004664411><:@192.168.0.100>S0 | <:1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100> | <:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100>S0 | 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx<:@192.168.0.100>S0 | <#:1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx | <#:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 | <#:>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 )

One thing I'd like to modify about GVOut is I'd like to have it start minimized or, better yet, have it sit in the notification area and/or run as a service. The main benefit of this, for me at least, is to help prevent GVOut from being accidentally stopped or having its configuration botched by other users in the house. If anyone has a tip on how to accomplish this, I'm all ears.

EDIT: Jeez, I just noticed that GVOut is in the notification area, and when minimized, that's the only place it is (it doesn't sit in the taskbar.) So, it was just a matter of adjusting the properties of the startup shortcut to start GVOut minimized.

VOIP has broken me brains.

I'm having the same problems as a few above have mentioned. After placing an outgoing call, which works fine, I must then restart gvout and sometimes xlite to place a second call and get a busy signal. Tried the xgvout and it makes no difference. I'm using port 5060. Right now I'm just using xlite as a soft phone with gizmo. Everything works fine when I bypass the proxy and just connect directly to google voice (of course the 3 minute limit applies.) It seems that when using the gvout proxy tool xlite cannot tell when the call ends. After hanging up the phone recieving the call, xlite sits there still "connected" with the timer running until I end the call on xlite as well. When directly connecting to google voice xlite displays "hung up" when the other phone is hung up.

Tks. That Accton phone setting is strange, or for GVout you must do like this way?
But for GVout, sometime I have to restar it, otherwise I can go through. Is Gizmo problem or GVout?
Is there a detail and simply guide for how to use sipsorcery start from setting SIP provider to incoming outcall dial plan?

Thank you everybody. Great. Now I have another wireless line in my home. No more fight.

What kind of router are you using? I'm using an old Dlink DI524, that seems the most likely source of the problem, I've tried it on two computers now and the same problem. I've opened up port 5060 to be sure. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop so I can't try plugging straight into the modem.

Somewhat OT: I have a D-Link DI-524 as well and have noticed intermittent connection drops and other weirdness like web pages loading without CSS and such. It was such a nuisance that I decided to take advantage of a sale on an Asus router to replace it (haven't put it into operation yet.) But, for the past week I haven't been using my magicJack and the DI-524 has been working flawlessly. It appears that the magicJack causes the DI-524 a significant amount of indigestion. So, if one does have this particular router (maybe others as well), you might want to do GVOut testing without the magicJack hooked up.

The above didn't work for me, same symptoms with or without magicjack. I have the pc with Magicjack hooked straight to an ethernet port on the router, so that's probably cutting down on the congestion anyway.

i am noticing that my incoming calls no longer shows caller ID, and some (half or so) of my outgoing calls thru GVout do not get a callback.

Did they change something?

As an update, I've installed a new linksys N router and am able to use the sipsorcery method with no problems. I don't want to reset everything to test gvout but I would think it would work now too.

GV + Xlite or ATA

Post by Shey »

has anyone tried if GV configured with Gizmo+Xlite will work outside US?

I tried settingup my US GV+Gizmo5+Xlite account in UK and I was able to get connected, however when I tried to dial a US number, i get unauthorized error message.

anyone know how to resolve this?

I have wasted 5 hours, here, as a windows user usually if I cannot get going in hours I trash.

Unfortunately, I cannot buy a t k six thousand as they only run the ccards as recurring charges. This is fraudulent and should never be allowed. This is a one time purchase.

So before buying a pap2t, I thought I would try sipgate and gvout. Firstly, sipgate alone didn't really work: calls have 20 second delay! Login is flakey, and now not working at all. Their own tech support number seems broken, because they are using sipgate.

I also downloaded xlite but couldn't get the gvout to work with it following all directions. 408 errors timeout. Like other's.

So, I am concluding sipgate is crap, and xlite is incompatible with gvout. Sipgate support is non existent.

Gizmo5.com make no mention of free phone numbers or free incoming. So what is address to sign up for this and what soft phone can I test?

Google Voice provides you with the phone number, Gizmo5 provides you with the VOIP service.

All calls (sans international) through Google Voice are free, all incoming calls through Gizmo5 are free. Outgoing free calls through Gizmo5 are limited to 3 minutes.

So, for completely free calling, all calls must be initiated through Google Voice, hence the use of GVOut. Another reason to initiate all calls through Google Voice is quality, it's fantastic, and not just relatively speaking, it really has great quality. That's my experience, anyway.

As for softphones, Gizmo5 has their own, but I haven't used it beyond signing up for the Gizmo5 account and registering the Gizmo5 account with the Google Voice account, so I can't comment further on its use with GVOut.

I know my settings are in x lite are correct since I got it to work. (sipgate + gv) Problem is flakiness. I haven't got to point where I would feel comfortable spending $60 on a papt2.

First hurdle is getting sipgate to register. It seems at times to not want to register. Then, often I call sip number and get number disconnected. Once that works, when I turn on proxy, it won't register with 408 error. If I exit xlite and gv and restart both, I must first turn off proxy, then stop gv then start it again, then turn on proxy. Walla, often it works. Part 2: Then I dial out, it dials me back and calls are only lasting 40 seconds or minute then hanging up. If I dial again it tells me my sip stack has crashed and phone won't work again, unless I start again from scratch.

So, Firstly, I need to know where to get this gizmo 5 account with phone service (do they not give you a phone number?) and try that route. Secondly, could use some trouble shooting help on sip stacks.

Problem with all voip is they demand $20 a month, with me providing lines and bandwidth. $5 to $10 month is price point (ata only). I am guessing 3 hours outgoing calls to mothers and tech support = 180 minutes a day or 3000 minutes on low side with two people. At 2 cents a minute, this is $60 a month. Hardly acceptable. Now consider they are already slipping in hidden costs like 911 service, and quality doesn't appear so hot, judging by softphone (registering issue and 20 second delay on one call).

Your situation was exactly my situation when I was trying to use GVout as a proxy. I couldn't get consistency in X-lite and also had to keep re-registering and starting/stopping the proxy for every dial out. Worse, when I tried with my ATA (not a Linksys flavor) my GV callbacks would only work if the ATA was not registered and it required the debugging parameters to be constanly used to monitor what was going on and whether the ATA was properly linked up to the proxy. It was trial & error at best.

This is not to say anything negative about the developer(s) since the mjmd5 proxy works rock solid with any brand ATA and any brand softphone including xlite. I tried getting GVout to work when word got out that our mj passwords were in jeopardy. Once, passwordfinder 2.1 came out, I was relieved to know that the old passwords still work so I'd stick with mjmd5/ATA combo for now which I use as a backup.

My primary phone system is now SS/Sipgate/GV which has been solid going on the 4th day now. I would not knock Sipgate's tech support, they answer E-mails within 24 hours and their website is pretty informative. For a free incoming Voip service, they are much better compared to Gizmo/VoxOx IMO.
