Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Jaron'
Jaron: Hello, how may I help you?
Kriston: I wanted to know if there was anyway to stop the magic jack application from stealing focus.
Jaron: Hello Kriston.
Jaron: May you elaborate more please.
Kriston: I play quite a few games in fullscreen view and some online, and I really would rather not have the Magic Jack application minimizing my applications and games when I have an incoming call.
Jaron: Thank you for bringing up this concern with us. I do apologize for the inconvenience you have this time. Please do not be worry for I will assist you with that.
Jaron: I am so sorry to inform you that you cannot disable the soft phone to pop-up on your screen the moment you receive an incoming calls. However, please don't worry for I'll submit this concern to our admins to make sure this kind of issue will be given high importance by them.
Kriston: Really? Because all the research I have done I cannot found a way to stop magic jack from minimizing my programs without the use of a 3rd party application.
Jaron: Since we are continuing to work in upgrading our system to give you the best service with our product, I hope this feature will be available for you the soonest possible. Again I apologize, I hope somehow I have helped you with this concern of yours today.
Jaron: Yes Kriston, you are not able to disable the soft phone to pop-up when you receive an incoming calls
Kriston: Then I am formally requesting this feature. I am actually considering trying a different voip provided strictly because of the inconvienence caused by the pop up.
Kriston: But it is my only issue with magic jack so I really would like to see that said feature is implemented.
Jaron: I do apologize for the inconvenience you have Kriston.
Jaron: I will immediately send a report to this concern and I rest assured that I will put a high priority of your concern as I submit this to our Admins to make sure this will be given importance that way you want it to be taken cared of.
Kriston: From what I gather from reading the EULA agreement, it is unclear to me whether or not I can use a 3rd party softphone, given that it does not modify Magic Jacks software or hardware in anyway.
Jaron: I see
Jaron: Is there anything else I may help you with today?
Kriston: So then I ask, can I use a 3rd party softphone for the time being until the feature is implemented?
Kriston: Or would that be a violation of the agreement?
Jaron: Thank you for your patience. I will transfer you to a higher level of support. Please hold while I transfer you.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Hero'
Hero: Hello Kriston.
Kriston: Hello Hero
Hero: Please allow me to review your chat transcript/s with the other representative/s for me to assist you better.
Hero: Thank you for holding. I understand your concern Kriston and I apologize for the inconvenience. As of this moment, minimizing your softphone or preventing it from popping up when there is an incoming calls is not yet available however, rest assured that the higher department will know about this issue. I will address it to them including your request. Hopefully in the near future, that will be implemented. With regards to third party softphone, we do not have that available as well.
Kriston: You don't need to have it available
Kriston: I am asking if I am allowed to use a 3rd party softphone, provided that it in no way modifies the magicjack hardware or software
Hero: Please wait while I check that for you
Hero: One moment please...
Kriston: I shall await your response.
Hero: Thank you for holding. I apologize for the inconvenience Kriston, however I apologize about that but that is not allowed since it is against the Terms of Services ( TOS ).
Kriston: The TOS seemed to only specify the modification of hardware or software. Which in this case would involve neither.
Hero: 8. License
Hero: magicJack grants you a personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right and license to use the magicJack device and Software on your computer; provided that you do not (and do not allow anyone else to) copy, modify, create a derivative work of, reverse engineer, reverse assemble or otherwise attempt to discover any source code, sell, assign, sublicense, grant a security interest in, or otherwise transfer any right of the magicJack device.
Hero: I understand your concern Kriston..
Hero: We only support using the magicJack with the magicJack device itself and the built-in software. If you wish to try it using another softphone, you may try it but we don't have any support using magicJack with another type of program/software aside from the one we officially support with, also we are not liable for any damages and alike which may arise in the future by doing such.
Kriston: So then I am legally allowed to use another softphone, you guys just do not have support for it?
Kriston: I would not come to you for support for something you can not support I just want to know if I am legally allowed to use another softphone. And from what you are saying this is the case.
Kriston: Of course provided that the softphone does not reverse engineer or modify any of magic jack's software or hardware. And is in no way making profit from magic jack's software or hardware.
Hero: Okay, I understand, however our stand in this is still "no", though it is not clearly stated in the Terms of Services. I apologize about that..
Kriston: But you just said that I may try another softphone, you just cannot provide support.
Hero: Yes, you "may" try, but that does not mean that we "legally" allowed that since the "terms of service" is not clear about this, whether it is allowed or not. But if you really want to ask what is our stand for this, we would safely say "no".
Kriston: Well then that being said, since it is not clear in the Terms Of Service agreement, I have no contract stating that I am not allowed to use one then.
Kriston: So then I suppose my final question would be, is it possible for me to obtain a log of this chat session for my records?
Hero: Yes. Just copy this chat and save this in your computer for your personal records..
Kriston: Alright thank you very much for your time. Have a good day!
Hero: You are most welcome and thank you as well for your time and patience. Pleasure to assist someone like you today.
I need input and viewpoints on this concerning the MJ TOS.

I've found your various other posts about this, and none of the programs I was thinking of seem to be working for you. I do agree with the others though, that you should use a sip phone instead which will not popup on you.
Grab stroth's utility here to get your sip info: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/stro ... t4230.html
and then download the .net framework here http://filehippo.com/download_dotnet_framework_2/ and then install the proxy script from here http://www.mediafire.com/?mmmt4wcnqyb
Tell your sip phone to connect to the server 127.0.0.1 and you should be good to go!
Oh and I would recommend xlite for windows: http://www.counterpath.net/x-lite.html

Not any more you can't, they changed the nonce so you can't connect through any softphone but their own without the proxy.
Anyways, who cares if its against the TOS? Its wrong of them to close down their product on their customers anyway. We should be able to use their service in any way we want, after all we paid for it!
So yes, its against the TOS. That doesn't make it illegal, its not a law. Its just against the terms of service and is grounds for termination.

So I hear the new update screws with the abilities to acquire SIP info...
Is this true?
Also I notice someone mention that the magicjack app collected certain passwords and what-not it should not have... If this is the case, we could file a lawsuit against MJ.... Just a thought...
For those that do have your SIP info and are using Xlite, I think I should let some people know that
1.) you do not need a proxy and
2.) you do not need the magicjack dongle plugged into your computer to be able to use your phone service via Xlite... (this is unconfirmed on any other SIP software)
