If you are considering the GVJackApp but can't put your hands on a donor MJ or MJ+ dongle, the GVMate Professional VoIP Phone Adapter priced at under $30 provides a new equipment alternative that is functionally equivalent to using a magicJack dongle with the professional version of the GVJackApp all in one complete package.

The GVMate Professional VoIP Phone Adapter developed by PCPhoneSoft includes everything you need to link a regular phone and its keypad to Google Voice to provide a fully featured landline style calling experience including 20+ features and optional E911 and CNAM services. To start placing free US/Canada phone calls just plug the GVMate Phone Adapter into your computer and sign in using any Gmail e-mail account.

See http://www.gvmate.com for further details.

Even if one has a magicjack it seems this would be a better option since it's made to go with the service. Would that be an accurate assumption?

I have a magicjack that will expire Feb 2014 and I had planned to go with the GVJack App with it but this looks like something I may do even sooner to bypass MJ altogether.

Thanks! Very interesting looking. Hope it helps to give MJ some heated competition!

Clarification... buying the gizmo for $29.95 through Amazon INCLUDES the $19.95 program? Then e911 is another $12 per year... is this correct?

That is correct. The GVMate Phone Adapter will do exactly the same thing for you as combining a magicJack dongle together with the professional version of the GVJackApp.

Both solutions also have E911 emergency calling service optionally available for $1 a month if you decide you need it.
