Error 20
So I bought magicJack today and within minutes of it installing I get "error 20"
Well I honestly didn't know what I was doing with the thing so I went straight to the gauntlet that they call tech support. After almost 4 hours and 7 agents later (I had been disconnected multiple times for various reasons, one of which involving the person taking control of my computer and closing the firefox window that had both the chat and the screen share in it, severing the connection) I still have the problem. I've done everything they could think of, which wasn't much, and am completely out of ideas.
I'm running Windows 7, and have downloaded the supposed update that has done nothing to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check this out from MagicJack's site. Under "Vista and Windows 7 Users:", condition #2 mentions Error 20 (firewall, anti-virus, etc.):
http://www.magicjack.com/8/fixes-starti ... vista7.asp
I "googled" the error and found a site that mentions a possible registry corruption also.
I imagine Support probably went through this with you already, but it's all I can find for now.

Tom
Yeah, support already ran me through that multiple times (four to be exact)
On both my firewall and antivirus (AVG) magicJack is on the list of exceptions. I've tried turning both of them of, and leaving just one of them on, and nothing.
But I did it again, just in case it might work this time. Unfortunately having the same result.
If it is in fact a registry corruption, any idea how I could go about fixing it?
I generally know my way around a computer, but I've never touched the registry since I can't afford to have to get a new one.
Assuming the registry is fine...What would the chances be that I just got unlucky enough to purchase a bad magicJack?

Turns out the problem was on my end, not magicJacks.
I don't know why, but the proxy server/vpn being enabled was stopping magicJack from being able to detect/connect to the internet. So for anyone else that's having this problem, you might want to try disabling it and see if that fixes it.
Thanks for the help though. =)

Magic Jack Error 20
I got the Magic Jack Error 20. I have fix it in my PC. I'm posting the fix in this forum. In my machine, I usually back date my PC date for some reason. The PC date was set to an old date which was one year older than the current date. The error 20 appeared on this old date. When I set back the PC date to current, then my MagicJack started working fine.
