I notice that my addressbook.xml file has a date of Jan 4th and I have added 4 or 5 contacts since then - 2 just yesterday. So the recent contacts are not in the addressbook.xml file.
Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I just noticed this too. I've added several contacts in the last few days and wanted to backup my Addressbook.xml file in case the contacts are inaccessible, as they were with a recent update of the MJ software. At that time MJ couldn't download the contacts from their server and for some reason was not loading the version from the local xml file.
Now, it seems MJ has changed their code to ONLY download/upload contacts to/from their servers and not via the local Addressbook.xml file at all. In my opinion this is bad for two reasons:
1. I am unable to make a backup of my current contact list (MJ doesn't offer an export feature)
2. MJ is in control of my contact list instead of me
I don't necessarily mind MJ keeping my contact list on their server, but I want to be able to backup the list on my machine too, which is currently not possible!

The Address.xml File - No Longer Useful?
I thought I was doing something wrong.
If you're right about the change, then it means that I cannot use the address.xml file to easily add the contacts to a relative's MJ. She would have to manually enter them. And also it is no point keeping a copy of it for backup.
